SAVING SMALL FARMS 6/07 Do you know any small-farm owners? Would they be interested in protecting part or all of their property in perpetuity? Rising values and exorbitant taxes can make it impossible for small farmers, owners and their inheritors to hold on to land... We urge you to get the word out and help prevent farm property from being taken over by commercial developers: Community Land Trusts might be a win-win solution for all concerned. CLTs can be set up so there is a permanent easement on part of the site (for wetlands, forest, open space, wildlife area) with a small acreage set aside for an on-site veg/an village or villages to act as the steward, and another portion of the site designated for an organic farm and permaculture landscaping. Meanwhile, the original owners can continue to live and work on their land. For details on CLTs and how to set them up: Contact Equity Trust Inc and the other eco-developers listed on the VegNet ECO page.
SEEKING 28/8/07 I'm a female vegan musician/healer who wants to join or start a group that wants to be in a tropical climate (which will be the only good climate in a few years). I have experience gardening, preparing healthy food, nutrition, herbs, solar, wind power, can climb ladders and help build, etc. Am athletically and emotionally fit, and ready to do my part of the work necessary to make it a great experience! 310-598-5245
SEEKING 5/07 I am interested in joining a group. I agree with vegan practices and [have been] a vegetarian for five years. I would like to join a group that is forming or already established. I am willing to move. More information on request. P.S. I live in Canada. John G. pei_thisisthelife@yahoo.ca

They're thinking of buying another 20+ acres. Three or so residents, "primarily vegetarian" - new veg/an members willing to work are welcome. Contact Brian info@windspiritcommunity.org
SEEKING 5/07 My name is Renee M, a longtime vegan, mostly raw, and have been looking for a vegan community to live in - which I am afraid has been hard to find until now. I have been interested in living in Arizona - [am] now in California. rmorkat@aol.com
CALIFORNIA
LAND AVAILABLE 5/07 Raw Vegan Cohousing Communities forming now in California. According to an email announcement from Storm and Jinjee, they plan on building a vegan community on the East Coast, in the South and three or four on the West Coast. "It is a very involved project because of all of the permits that must be obtained. This is one of the reasons that we are thinking of starting off small. We are hoping that after building two or three prototypes of green eco houses that we will be able to build a whole community of twenty or thirty houses. If you think that you may be interested in the California Project in the national forest [a 2-acre site with plans for a 2-family house, guest house and barn] please send us an email and I will send you pictures of the land. We currently have an architect investigating what it is going to take to get the permits to build. So far everything looks doable. All the best, Storm" <info@thegardendiet.com>
FORMING 6/07 The Vegan Village - 90 acres within a larger eco-village community in the sanctuary of the Emerald Forest in Northern California. Shared meals and shared housing and shared duties and responsibilities in this village within a village. Veganism is ecological. But not everybody wants to be vegan. That's why we must find our fit within the larger community. We need everyone's complete cooperation at this time to create the changes that are going to be needed before the end times are here. - T To join our email group just send a blank email to Vegan-Village-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

FLORIDA
LAND AVAILABLE 12/07 Urban Vegan Village in Gainesville, half a block from the U of FL. Since we are all trying to lower our carbon footprint, we are looking at moving our VeganVillage concept closer into a town with bus service and convenience to services. There is an 8-unit apartment building for sale with a duplex next door that might be coming on the market soon. This is one-half block from U of FL in Gainesville. Each unit is 800 sq ft (2BR, 1 bath) and would be around $50,000. There is plenty of common areas for garden, cat enclosures, dog areas and relaxing outside. The idea would be to keep one of the units for guest housing and common meals. If there is enough interest, maybe we could go and look at this and a few other properties during the AR Symposium in February 2008 which will be held in Gainesville. Please send your thoughts/ideas about this concept to Zia at vegan.mania@cox.net
HAWAII
LAND AVAILABLE 11/07 A 'non-commune' community of like-minded private owners is forming on the Big Island of Hawaii. There are currently a number of three acre parcels available near the intersection of 3 road and B road in the Hawaiian Acres Subdivision. The NE corner property has been secured as well as a few privately owned parcels in the immediate vicinity. We do not own the properties being sold, so interested parties should contact a real estate agent for more information concerning availability and price in the area. There are no other fees or permission required to join our extended ohana (family), other than a good heart and respect for your neighbors. We are located approx. 15 miles from the city of Hilo, HI. with abundant rainfall for crops and personal use.
